To visit the ghetto, go travel through a soviet style built neighborhood. You go from memorial to memorial and you have to imagine an old section of the city teaming with Jews being sectioned off behind a wall that was guarded. This memorial is to the Jewish uprising in the ghetto in 1943. A small contingent of Jewish resisters fought and died against the Nazis with smuggled and improvised weapons.
This monument was created from granite that the Nazis had imported to Poland to be used for their monument for their victory over Poland.
The single rock is in another section and is surrounded by apartments. This is to a group of resistant fighters in the ghetto who knew that the might of the Nazi's had overcome their resistance and within hours they would be taken by the Nazis, choose to commit suicide than to be captured.
