In Lodz we went to the memorial at the train station from which the Jews (second largest population in Poland at the time of the war) were deported from the Ghetto. As you come to the memorial you turn the corner and the first thing you see is this smoke stack with the words, "Thou Shall Not Kill"! The simplicity in that statement makes you stop in your tracks.
To the right of the smoke stack your see the cement wall with just the years of deportation engraved into it. As you pass the wall you come to the station and orgininal cattle cars that you could walk into. Behind the station are the replicas of Jewish tombstones with the names of different camps the Jews were sent to. As you walk up to the tombstones you see these hands reaching up on each tombstone
